Dream Tube Lesson Plan | MOLLY OF DENALI™

Use this lesson as part of a comprehensive literacy, STEM, or social studies unit in which children will be using informational texts. In the "Dream Tube" animated story from the PBS KIDS series MOLLY OF DENALI™, Molly and her friends need answers about agate stones. The 11-minute video, the third of three video segments in the episode, models the comprehension strategy of asking oneself questions—including "how?" and "why?"—when reading (or listening to) informational texts. After watching the video, children experience and practice the technique in class, first as the teacher reads an informational book aloud, and then as they select and read books on their own.
