Singing the Blues | PINKALICIOUS & PETERRIFIC®

The “blues” is a particular kind of music that is used to express feelings, especially sadness, as Pinkalicious and her brother Peter learn in this video excerpt from the PBS KIDS series PINKALICIOUS & PETERRIFIC®. Nothing seems to cheer Peter up until his Dad plays the harmonica and makes up a blues song. Peter tries out his own version and discovers that it’s true—singing about your feelings can make you feel better.

For use in the classroom, see the Making Music Lesson Plan.
