Mrs. Washington discusses the effect of the colonists' decision not to import goods from England during the Revolutionary War. Even though doing without British goods created hardships, the colonists stood by their convictions and did without items they were accustomed to having in order to become self-sufficient. Mrs. Washington discusses that doing without the goods was really nothing in comparison to the great sacrifices made by the soldiers and their families in order to gain freedom.
