Summer squash (Cucurbita pepo) is a vegetable and a member of the cucumber family. It grows in a bush form that’s low to the ground with exceptionally large leaves. There are numerous types of summer squash, including crookneck and straightneck, which are always yellow, and zucchini, which can be yellow or green.
