Autumn clematis (Clematis terniflora), an East Asian native, is a perennial vine that can grow up to 30 feet tall. If left unattended this exotic (non-native), invasive species can overtake and kill native bushes and small trees. The vine will also spread on the ground if it has nothing to climb.
