When President Barack Obama announced the Clean Power Plan in 2015, which he had created by executive order, coal baron Bob Murray joined forces with then Oklahoma attorney general Scott Pruitt and others to sue the EPA for regulatory overreach. After Donald Trump was elected president in 2016, the opponents of the Clean Power Plan pushed for and secured its repeal.
