The Albany Movement | Civil Rights

Learn how activists involved in the Albany Movement in south Georgia boldly sought to end all forms of segregation and discrimination in their community. Led by the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), young people in Albany were inspired by other movements in the South and were supported by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and Dr. King’s Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). University of Georgia professor Dr. Barbara McCaskill discusses the successes and shortcomings of this lesser-known movement.
