In observance of Nellie Tayloe Ross Day, students will learn about the life of Nellie Tayloe Ross and how she became the first woman governor.

In the accompanying lesson plans (found in the Support Materials), students will watch a video about the accomplishments of Nellie Tayloe Ross and then take part in classroom activities and discussions.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

• Students will conduct research and integrate information from multiple sources to create a final project about the life and achievements of Nellie Tayloe Ross. 
• Students will practice reading informational texts, writing, speaking and listening, and reading in Social Studies and History.
• Students will watch clips of a documentary to learn about Nellie Tayloe Ross Day. 
• Students will write a short essay about Nellie Tayloe Ross.
