The challenges to the health of fisheries in the waters off the coast of Peru are a microcosm of the larger world as these same challenges are faced by fisheries around the world. The need to protect the ecosystem and effectively manage its resources are important both for the health of the ecosystem and for the communities that depend on it. This lesson plan, along with the video of the same name, features some of the work being done by The Nature Conservancy with the help of the fishers in the community of Ancon, Peru to protect their fisheries and the greater ecosystem for future generations.
