Replica of Thomas Edison's First Electric Lamp
This photograph shows a replica of Thomas Edison's patented lamp design. Edison wasn't the first person to invent a light bulb, but the first to invent a practical one that could burn for hours instead of just minutes. The first patent on Edison's incandescent electric lamp was awarded in 1880. This resource is part of the Thomas Edison Collection.
