First You Dream: The Music of Kander & Ebb | Songs: Setting the Scene

In the pop music world, songs are usually expressions of feeling. In musical theater, they're often used to advance a story in emotionally heightened ways. In the first part of this clip, we see how musical theater can augment the awkwardness of two people (played by James Clow and Julia Murney) meeting and falling in love; in the second we see how it magnifies the emotions of two others (played by Kate Baldwin and Norm Lewis) breaking up. Enjoy the show as they perform "Not Every Day of the Week" from Flora the Red Menace and "Seeing Things" from The Happy Time.
