Introduction to Impressionism/Post-Impressionism | Music Arts Toolkit
Dr. Diane Earle, professor of music at Kentucky Wesleyan College, introduces characteristics and key composers of the Impressionist/Post-Impressionist periods in art and music and performs “L’Isle Joyeuse” (“The Isle of Joy”) by Claude Debussy as an example of music from the impressionist period. She then discusses characteristics of Post-Impressionist music and performs “Scherzo” by Jean Francaix as an example.
