Meet rock engineer Tom Scholz in this video profile from NOVA’s “The Secret Life of Scientists & Engineers.” Growing up, Tom always had a fascination with engineering. In fact, he made a powered toy boat from scratch at age five. He continued to build things, making it through one disaster to the next. When he graduated from MIT, he started working as an engineer at Polaroid. During the day, he built sound systems for analog instant movies; at night, he engineered his own studio and rocked out. Eventually, a big label picked up his demo, and he skyrocketed into fame as both a musician and rock engineer.
