Japan and Asia: A History of Isolation and Intervention

Students will read about the various Imperial and shogunal attempts to regulate and control Japan’s external relations during the period and take notes. In the process they will try to sort out the different policies of the different elements of leadership in Japan. They will take notes in a graphic organizer and write an essay evaluating this isolation and influence.
