Mongolian Folk Dance | Beauty of Jasmine
Students from the Lexington (Kentucky) Chinese Music, Dance, and Arts Program (CMDAP) perform a folk dance in the traditional Mongolian style. This dance, like many Mongolian folk dances, celebrates the importance of horses and horseback riding. In Mongolian culture, children learn to ride when they are as young as three years old. The style of the dance is bold, with a combination of locomotor and nonlocomotor movements. This resource is part of the Beauty of Jasmine collection.
