Girls benefit from relationships with mentors. Not only can mentors guide the girls through an inquiry investigation, but they also serve as role models, someone succeeding at a scientific career. As a NASA research scientist, the girls' mentor talks to them about clouds, the atmosphere, and satellites. She also introduces them to a citizen science project that asks students to make ground observations of clouds to help NASA understand how the satellites are doing.
