The Gruba Family | The Homefront

Learn about military families and deployment in this clip from The Homefront. Army Staff Sergeant Leo Gruba and his wife, Serena, are stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord near Seattle, where she is a nurse at the military hospital on the post. They are expecting their second child while also preparing for Leo's sixth deployment overseas. When Serena develops a serious medical condition two weeks before Leo is scheduled to deploy, his commanders order him to remain stateside with his family. Leo is torn between his responsibilities to his family and to his troops, but when he is deployed a few weeks later, after the birth of his son Austin, he finds it difficult to leave his family. Meanwhile, Serena prepares to balance her work life with the parenting responsibilities of two children while Leo is gone.
