What started as a peaceful protestation against the Vietnam War quickly turned violent when the National Guard attempted to disperse students. The elevated aggression on both sides deteriorated into violence that culminated with the killing of four students and wounding of nine. As the initial horror of this day slowly sank in for both the students and solders, Professor Glenn Frank intervened to defuse the volatile situation.
