Planning an EXIT Procedure | Twice Born

Learn about a type of fetal surgery known as an EXIT procedure in this clip from the series TWICE BORN. When a fetus has a tumor on the neck or mouth that might prevent it from breathing on its own outside the womb, surgeons sometimes choose to do an EXIT procedure. Doctors partially remove the baby from the womb for the surgery but leave it attached to the mother by the umbilical cord. After the operation, the surgeons fully deliver the baby and cut the cord.
