Al Capone was a popular figure in his day, and in this clip you will explore the culture of celebrity he grew up in. In the 1920s the public wanted celebrities. Al Capone happily stepped into the limelight as the public face of organized crime. Gangsters had historically avoided publicity but Capone liked the attention, and his brazen attitude made him a favorite with the tabloids.
