Strawberry Fields Forever

Students learn how engineers are figuring out how to extend the strawberry season in North Carolina.  Thanks to thermometers embedded in blossoms, sprinklers, and black plastic, the strawberry industry in North Carolina is booming.  By using technology to extend to track and stabilize the microclimate around each blossom, more than 200 farmers are generating more than $30 million dollars from a crop not well suited to the climate.
