Medieval: Everyman

This is a reader’s theater performance of part of Everyman, the best surviving example of the type of Medieval drama known as the morality play. In this scene, Everyman, played by Spencer Christiensen, is at the end of his life, accompanied by several virtues, including Strength, Discretion, Knowledge, Beauty, and Good Deeds. One by one, his companions abandon him to his fate. Ultimately, it is only Good Deeds that stays with him at death, showing that worldly virtues are greatly outweighed by the character of a person.
