Ante la amenaza de alimentos genéticamente modificados, escasez de alimentos y aumento de precios, una de las tendencias verdes que se han vuelto muy populares en las grandes ciudades son los huertos urbanos. En este segmento el agrónomo Luis Reynaldo Santiago, especialista en horticultura urbana del Huerto Urbano Demostrativo de la Estación Experimental Agrícola Río Piedras nos presenta esta modalidad que va de la mano con el aumento en la agricultura ecológica y el consumo de productos locales.

With the threat of genetically modified foods, shortage of food, and a rise in prices, one of the green trends that became very popular in large cities is the urban vegetable gardens. In this segment, the agronomist Luis Reynaldo Santiago, a specialist in urban horticulture from the Rio Piedras Experimental Station Demonstrative Urban Garden presents this method that goes in hand with an increase in ecologic agriculture and use of local products.
