El Observatorio de Arecibo estuvo bajo la operación de la Universidad de Cornell hasta el 2011, cuando entra a administrarlo el consorcio de la Universidad Metropolitana (UMET), la SRI International y Universities Space Research Association. Las áreas de investigación en astronomía y ciencias atmosféricas están bajo SRI International y USRA. Lo relacionado con la parte educativa y el aspecto de logística operacional, está a cargo de la UMET.  En la entrevista con el Dr. Juan Arratia, se explican las áreas y oportunidades educativas que se están desarrollando gracias a la creación de este consorcio.

The Observatory of Arecibo had been operated by Cornell University until 2011 when it began being administered by a consortium formed by the Metropolitam University (UMET), SRI International, and Universities Space Research Association (USRA).  The areas of investigation in astronomy and atmospheric sciences are operated by SRI International and USRA.  The educational area and the operational logistic area are the responsibility of UMET.  In the interview with Dr. Juan Arratia, he explains the educational opportunities that are developing thanks to the creation of this consortium.
