El Observatorio de Arecibo fue inaugurado en el Barrio Esperanza de Arecibo en 1963. En este primer segmento, se describen las características estructurales del telescopio. Además, en la entrevista a la Sra. Carmen Saavedra, se presentan algunos descubrimientos que están documentados en su libro, "Observatorio de Arecibo: Origen y Desarrollo."

The Arecibo Observatory was opened in the Barrio Esperanza in Arecibo in 1963.  In this first segment, the estructural characteristics of the telecospe are described.  In the interview with Ms. Carmen Saavedra some discoveries that are documented in her book "Observatorio de Arecibo: Origen y Desarrollo" (Arecubi Observatory: Origin and Development) are presented.
