World War II veteran William Hoopes was born in Tennessee in November of 1924. Though he started his military career in the Navy, Mr. Hoopes later volunteered as a Paratrooper for the Marine Corps. He shares his experiences during the war in this interview from the Georgia World War II Oral History Project.
