John Cunningham was born October 9, 1922. He served in the Army Air Corps aboard a B-24 in the European Theater. Mr. Cunningham was part of the 8th Air Force Bomber Group and the 15th Air Force Bomber Group. He flew low-level raids over Italy, particularly Ploesti, a highly contested battle zone. Later, he flew supply planes in Cuba. He is the author of When the Last Teardrop Falls, a fictional account of the war based on his experiences.
