Mr. John Wesley Bassett, Jr., born July 11, 1924, served as a Boatswain's Mate Second Class in the Navy. Mr. Bassett shares his memories of traveling through the Panama Canal before the Invasion of Okinawa, the terror Kamikaze pilots caused him, and the soldiers who died when a 14 inch projectile penetrated the hull of his ship.
