Benefits of Beaver Ponds and Lodges

This video from Nature: Leave it to Beavers illustrates how beaver ponds and lodges benefit other species. The video features a beaver pond in the spring in the Rocky Mountains, which provides safety and food for a variety of birds and mammals. Beaver ponds help keep predators like wolves and bears away from its residents and flap their tails on the water to signal when there is potential danger. The video ends with a look at a beaver lodge in the winter and highlights how beavers provide food, shelter, and protection from the weather and predators to a variety of species, including muskrats, frogs, insects, deer mouse, and other species.
