Mr. Charles Walter Dryden served in the Army Air Corps and is one of the Tuskegee Airmen. Mr. Dryden was born in New York City on September 16, 1920. Mr. Dryden shares his experiences of training at the Tuskegee Air Base, the inherent racial divide, and his elation at finally being allowed to fly and serve in combat. Sent to North Africa, Mr. Dryden describes his combat experience and why he won a Medal of Honor. Dryden expresses his feelings of serving in the Army under segregated circumstances and how it all changed after the war.
