What was the American Indian Movement?

Inspired by the 1960’s Civil Rights and Anti-War Movements, the American Indian Movement (AIM) advocated for Native American rights. AIM activists used protests and occupations to draw public attention to problems including racism, poverty, and political oppression. Video from American Experience: “We Shall Remain: Wounded Knee.”
