Wetland archeologist Ben Gearey, from University College Cork in Ireland, shows us how peat bogs preserve different types of matter in this excerpt from the NOVA program Ghosts of Murdered Kings. Bogs have been around for millennia. A single meter of peat can act as a time capsule, preserving a thousand–year record of plant life, ancient artifacts and bodies.
