Aluminum | Raw to Ready: Bombardier

This clip from Raw to Ready: Bombardier focuses on how early experiments with aluminum extraction by Charles Martin Hall led to the mass production of aluminum and opened the doors for experiments with aluminum alloys. Alfred Wilm discovered age-hardening of copper aluminum alloy that is incorporated into WWI planes. Later, the addition of zinc solidified the copper aluminum alloy that is still used in the production of commercial planes today.
