This clip from Genealogy Roadshow introduces Sam Houston. After his successful participation in Tennessee politics, Houston looked west to Texas, leading the Texas War of Independence from Mexico. In 1859 Houston became Texas’ first governor, and remains one of the most important figures in Texan history.
