Fluency: Grades K-1 Introductory Video
This professional development module for K-1 teachers is based on common core standards for fluency and models best practices that engage young learners. It reviews the skills of identifying letter names and letter sounds with ease. It identifies and models the steps in development of oral reading fluency: sounds, letters, words, phrases, sentences, text reading, and comprehension. For younger children, fluency means automatic letter recognition, quick access to sounds represented by printed letters, quick recall of beginning sight words, and quick recall of a growing number of decodable words.
