Fireflies | Wild Kratts
Join Chris and Martin as they explore the facinating lives of fireflies! Viewers learn about bioluminsescene and the importance of that glow to the livelihood of fireflies! The brothers explain that the glowing stomach of the firefly is used to communicate to other fireflies to pair up to mate, to warn predators that they are poisonous, and to emit messages to other fireflies. Viewers also learn that the lifespan of the firefly is very short, lasting for only a few weeks at the beginning of the summer and that during this time they must mate and lay their eggs to keep the species going!
