This resource group contains two facsimiles and a transcript of, and a background essay on the Japanese surrender to the Allied Forces, signed aboard the USS Missouri on September 2, 1945 by Japanese envoys Foreign Minister Mamora Shigemitsu and General Yoshijiro Umezu. This act officially ended World War II.
