Tunneling for Water: Digging the Well and Treating the Water

This video examines the purpose and anatomy of a well and how it is drilled. Through a diagram of Louisville Water Company's riverbank filtration system, you see how water moves through the aquifer to the well and from the well to the tunnel via "well screens" that filter out particulates and channel the water to the tunnel. Finally the water is pumped to the water company where it chemically treated to produce safe drinking water.

This resource is part of the Louisville Water Company: Tunneling for Water collection.
