Large-scale international wars no longer dominate, but instead wars targeting civilians and utilizing small arms are prevalent. Unfortunately, such weapons are difficult to monitor and control and they are thus very dangerous. Women and their dependents are most affected by these wars, and many people believe that in order for successful disarmament, women should play a bigger role in the peace process.
