Women in Afghanistan Today
In this video from Women, War & Peace, Hasina Safi and other Afghan women discuss what life is like in Afghanistan. Safi, who lives in Kabul, is a member of the Afghan Women’s Network, and she runs literacy programs for women. In Kandahar, another city in Afghanistan, women are still extremely oppressed and corruption runs rampant in the government. Women are afraid to leave their homes, and they remember that at least under the Taliban’s rule, which ended in 2001, they felt more secure in their daily lives.
