Eliciting Specific Difficulties with Light and Shadow
In this video from Physics by Inquiry, teachers in a professional development workshop elicit, confront, and resolve ideas about how light rays behave. After the teachers predict what they'd see on a screen when light from different sources passes through a triangular opening in a mask, they discuss and compare the results of their experiment with their predictions. An instructor then describes instructional strategies to help students overcome incorrect ideas.
