The pair are using library-provided materials to play a verbal blending game based on BTL's "Gawain’s Word" segments, which feature Monty Python-style knights "crashing together at high speed" to make a word. The words the father and son are building are all "short-i" words, particularly relevant because they have just watched a BTL episode in which "short-i" sounds are featured.
