Mass Games | Wide Angle
Communist governments seek total political and social control of a state and its individual citizens. Among the ways of achieving such a goal is the production of a mass organized spectacle or event. The “mass games” of North Korea are a synchronization of thousands of performers that celebrate the communist state’s achievements and anniversaries. In this video segment from the Wide Angle film "A State of Mind," a young performer relates her experience participating in these epic exhibitions of ordered celebration.
