Portland, an Interactive City | Geospatial Revolution

The Geospatial Revolution Project, from WPSU Penn State public broadcasting, looks at how the city of Portland is using geographic information system (GIS) technology to influence the way the local government and citizens make decisions. New GIS technologies have allowed for the Portland government to provide conveniences such as real time public transportation maps, the opportunity to report incidences by exact GPS local via a phone app, and better city planning based on location of sunlight and landmarks. These technologies save money, improve services, and helps improve the relationship of local governments with the communities they serve.
