PRACTICE - Hardy Weinberg Practice Problems

This resource was developed for high school students in the Simi Valley Unified School District to provide a mathematical framework for determining whether or not a population is evolving when in Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium. This resource was developed to accompany the SLIDES - Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium.

In this activity, students learn the formula for nonevolving populations in Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium. Students apply concepts in genetics to calculate allele frequencies using the Hardy-Weinberg equation.

A step by step guide for solving such equations is provided. A word bank with examples provides support for English learners.
