Scientists have begun to study the effectiveness of vaccines against devil facial tumor disease (DFTD). They trap healthy and uninfected devils, administer vaccination shots, and then release the animals back into the wild. In doing so, scientists hope to gain more insight into how to stop this plague generationally, not just through individual immunization. Their goal is to give devils a fighting chance to survive the battle against this deadly, faceless threat.
