Document Analysis: Filipinos and the Delano Grape Strike

This assignment, Filipinos and the UFW Movement, uses primary and secondary sources to explore the overlooked contributions of Filipino farmworkers in the Delano Grape Strike. It includes excerpts from Philip Vera Cruz: A Personal History of Filipino Immigrants and the Farmworkers Movement and Journey for Justice: The Life of Larry Itliong, which provide firsthand accounts of Filipino labor struggles, their demands for fair wages and union representation, and the challenges of uniting with Mexican workers. Through these sources, students critically examine how the Filipino experience challenges the dominant narrative of the farmworker movement.
