School-Based Themed SEL Resources

School-Based Themed SEL Resources

In June 2020, the California Department of Education convened the California Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) State Team for the first time, consisting of teachers, administrators, and community advocates.  The State SEL State Team recognized the importance of a systematic approach to implementing SEL however, the team also acknowledge that students need social and emotional support now.  In these collections educators may find individual resources from the Social and emotional Learning in California as well as new resources, which teachers and other practitioners may take into their classrooms tomorrow.  These resources have been grouped by theme, vary in time commitments, and may be utilized in a month-long focus in school communities.  Each collection is further broken down by context (e.g. elementary, middle, ect).  They are designed to meet real-world needs in the classroom with the highest quality material.

The CDE sincerely thanks the resources project team, Aaron Bryan, Office of the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools; Amanda Gilmartin, Saddleback Valley Unified School District; Amy L.
