Strong relationships among peers and with teachers creates a foundation for supportive classroom and school climates. Relationship skills can be enhanced through explicit teaching and student practice and within the context of academic instruction. Teaching communication and cooperation skills, helping students get to know one another, being relatable and sharing about yourself, asking students how they are doing on a daily basis, listening to their ideas and feedback about class, and having fun all help promote healthy relationships.
