High School Grades (Relationships)

Learning about building healthy relationships plays a significant role in students’ abilities to recognize, navigate, and change the course of unhealthy relationships. Peer-to-peer relationships, romantic relationships, student-teacher relationships and student-parent relationships all undergo transitions during this developmental period, and students continue to define, build, and test their identities. Explicit teaching and reinforcement of relationship skills through academic and non-academic contexts supports students to develop their social and emotional skills in the areas of perspective taking, social awareness, and responsible decision making.
